'my god, what have we done?'In the year 2015, mankind thought that we had just about reached the peak of technology. The age of the machine had began, and the streets were filled with 'artificial aids'. They were programmed to do about anything, some to help the elderly across the street, others were built for war fare. It didn't take long until the entire world got their hands on the aids. They fought over them, killed over them. The aids were learning machines, and they became too intelligent for our own good. A specific machine built for biological combat, armed with a gas that kills organic material on impact, went on a rampage. The 'gassers' [as they were called] began to wipe out the human race. In a desperate attempt to preserve life, an allegiance of scientists formed to build an inorganic race that still held the human soul. Each scientist was given a list of numbers, all of which would be the names of the future race known as the 'ragdolls'. The scientists split their souls [sometimes, other's souls] in order to give their creations life.
2020, the humans are dead. All that's left are the machines and the ragdoll creations. The machines hunt them, determined to rid anything human left of the world. The ragdolls? They are separated into four allegiances and struggling to survive. All have their own unique personalities and abilities. Only they have the power to preserve the humanity their souls contain, but many are dying quickly. How will you survive the end of the world?- - -THE SOURCE

In the years after the abolition of man, the chaos of war had begun to fade into the bleak shadows of subversion and fear. The first few years offered peace for the ragdolls who harbor the last traces of humanity in their souls. Many wandered, seeking purpose and repose, while others settled down and began to form alliances from the scattered population. Those who settled in the Cathedral under the belief of goodness and mercy came to be known as the Saviors; those who were drawn to the Clocktower for greed and misconduct came to be known as the Racketeers; those who tried to flee their troubled pasts and live in secrecy went underground to a place called The Mark; and those who refused to live under the set rules of the other alliances formed a band of thieves and looters known as the Rogues.
Now, in 2025, the Fabricator has begun to sweep the lands of the emptiness with his machines to capture dolls for his experiments. Those who wandered as nomads must now face a very real danger, and must find a way to live in safety or end up as skullbeast fodder. As dolls flock to the four factions, land has been claimed and lines drawn. Rivalries between the alliances have been formed as danger grew and supplies became few and far between. A mysterious group known as The Gray has arisen with the intent of keeping peace within the factions, but as they align with none of the four societies there is suspicion toward them and what they truly stand for.
As fear and uncertainty kindle in the souls of the remnants of humanity, the Fabricator's factory looms in the horizon, a storm brewing in the forbidden place.
This is the age we now live in: where life struggles to exist in a world of material and metal.
