Wow this ended up kind of long... a lot of this are assumptions.
Number/Name: 1
Number Placement: His back
Gender: Male
Years since Creation: Unknown.
Date of Creation: Unknown.
Alignment: Saviours
Height: 6.5 (I'm guessing. He seems to be about the same height as 9 and 5.)
Fabric: Canvas
Metal: Aluminium (Or that's what it looks like.)
Anomalies: The closure of his optics is narrower than most, in the shape of an elongated triangle, making it seem as though he is always squinting.
Accessories: The shaft of a salt shaker used as a hat, with a gold coin fixed to it with rubber bands. He wears a long faded red cape fastened with a red purple gemstone, and carries a large darning needle as a sceptre topped with a broken rusted cog with a cat bell at the tip.
Abilities: Ultimately a leader, however he does make decisions rather quickly, too eager to jump at an easier solution, and does not like taking risks.
Weapons: His sceptre.
Appearance: He is made from many separate pieces of stiff canvas stitched together, has extra patches on his knees, and overall has a rather thin and wiry appearance. His head appears more skeletal than most other stitchpunks, his face roughly sewn together and gathered at the top, he was clearly made with less skill than the other 8 original numbers. His hands are made by layering pieces of metal on top of each other and hinged together to create joints, he has a slight stoop when standing still and has a tendency to lean on his staff.
Personality:
1 is possibly very bitter toward the scientist, who brought them into a world for a purpose he does not want to be apart of. He has no interest in the history that lead up to their creation - probably knowing a great deal more than he lets on, and will firmly discourage people who seek the truth. He believes that such knowledge will do no good.
He feels responsible for the group as a whole, but his instinct for self-preservation and his fearful nature prevent him from really helping the group. As such he is rather cowardly, and will make an effort to remove himself from danger rather than staying behind to protect the others. However he does not look down on fear, believing they have good reasons to be afraid, and good reasons to stay out of danger.
He does have the potential to overcome his fear of being hurt, but it would require the situation being quite desperate, one where his lack of action would lead to the death of them all.
He is a solitary figure, choosing not to confide in anyone but himself, hiding behind illusions of grandeur to avoid responsibility for past actions, and facing his own inadequacy.
He is not willing to take risks, and will instead seek to avoid direct confrontation, as he believes a fight will only lead to greater loss. This belief may end up hurting his comrades more than if he had decided to take a more difficult path.
When he is in control of the situation, he is very active in his speeches, making wide, sweeping gestures and dramatic movements to illustrate his stories and make his point clear. He likes to be in control, and does not take challenges to his authority very well.
He sticks to his rules, and his routine as a way of keeping everything in control, he is not good at thinking on his feet. 1 desires structure to maintain order, as it is the only way he can understand the world. As such he is extremely inflexible, and applies the same rules to every situation regardless of whether they are appropriate or not.
Overall he is a conflicted character, constantly needing to reassure himself that he is doing the right thing, and rather prone to monologuing to himself when alone.
He can't stand being confronted with his mistakes, in a situation when he can no longer explain them away or deny them. It leads to a bit of a breakdown in his faith in structure and order.
Other Information:
As he was the first stitchpunk ever made, his frame is cruder and less malleable than the others. As such he does not possess the fluidity of movement and flexibility of the later numbers, something which may partially contribute to his fear of confrontation. He is well aware of his physical inadequacy and has taken on the role of a leader to make up for it.
He has a nervous habit of curling his fingers up close to his body when he feels threatened.
He is fond of his staff, and will often bang it against the ground for attention, or to make a point. He will sometimes brandish it at the other numbers in order to intimidate them into obedience. Though such actions are usually nothing more than hot air. His authority, his confidence, and his general appearance are just an act. He is acting in the role of a leader, in the only way he knows how.
