Name: the Ferret Skullbeast
Species: Skullbeast
Implied Gender: None
Purpose: To Absorb Us
Anomalies: The Ferret Skullbeast is much more vulnerable than most of its fellow Machines, its legs being fragile and susceptible to attack, its torso being covered by easily-cut leather instead of metal, its small size, and the exposed wires on its neck. The Ferret isn't built for head-on battles to the death; its meant for sneak-attacks and then a quick getaway. It also refers to the stitchpunks as "hosts" rather than "prey", unlike most of its siblings.
Accessories: None, unless you count the leeches.
Weapon(s): Teeth, bladed arms, needle-tipped tail, occasionally its sharp legs, and I guess the leeches could count as a weapon.
Appearance:
Personality: Not very subtle, and if asked a question will just answer straight-out, if not in a slightly confusing fashion(it tends to double back on its sentences and repeat itself while talking). It's stubborn - not to the point of being stupid or reckless, though - but can be bargained with if you get its attention. Not the best strategist, it usually just jumps into a situation without thouroughly thinking through the consequences. The Ferret Skullbeast avoids populated areas and large groups of anima, so as not to be ganged up on. Not being one for sudden actions, its behavior is rather predictable once you know how it acts.
Other Information: The Ferret Skullbeast carries inside its torso about 10 tiny leech-like Machines in little vials of oil. The way the Ferret Skullbeast attacks is it finds a lone stitchpunk (or if it's not alone, it'll stalk it until it is), slices open its victims chest, and dumps a leech into it by pumping it through the tube running from its torso to its jaw. The Ferret Skullbeast then sews up the slice wound with the threaded needle on its tail and skitters off.
Once the leech latches onto a stitchpunk's frame with its legs and the magnet on the underside of its head, the alchemy circle scratched into the magnet activate and start slowly sucking the soul out of the victim over a period of days. The stolen soul condenses in the leech's container as a glowing green liquid. When the leech is full - which is when the victim is lifeless, if they have the average amount of soul - it sends a signal to the Ferret Skullbeast, who then comes and collects it. Every leech has a built-in tracking device it it, so the Ferret always knows relatively where it is and what condition it's in.
The leeches have a very simple, primitive behavior, and are not able to think separately or strategize; they simply follow their programming. If someone tries to remove one from themselves, it will tighten its hold by clinging with its legs. If they manage to pry it off, it'll let out a continuous high-pitched mechanical scream and flail around, trying to reattach itself. Once it reattaches the screaming will stop, and it will resume soul-sucking its host.
The Ferret Skullbeast only speaks Machine. It can understand stitchpunks, but will tune out their language unless they catch its attention by speaking Machine.
