Anomalies: His most obvious anomaly is probably the fact that he has no "palms" to speak of- or at least, ones of made of metal anyway. Instead of a hardcover covering or even a sheet skeleton, he instead has cloth covering the underlying metal skeleton, with minute stitches pulling the cloth taut against the metal framing (specifically, a stitch in between each of his fingers, and four stitches along his wrists). He does not know why the cloth was pulled up or for what purpose, as he never knew his creator(s), but unfortunately in the past four years since he woke, wear and tear have taken a toll on his burlap skin, and his hands are beginning to wear and tether. It's likely that his palms are going to have to be cut away at some point, exposing his skeleton to the elements. Along the same lines, his legs could also be considered strange, as they are iron-cast sheets instead of cloth. In fact, if you remove the sheet plating, all that's underneath is copper bone- that's not to say that bother 199 at all. In fact, the two bolts on his knees can be shifted, and doing so seems to "unlock" the sheets, a nice little trick 199 likes to utilize sometimes in case he ever wants to clean off his outer leg casings (much to the disgust of the rag dolls around him). Another anomaly is only an anomaly because it has no purpose- which is, his wire hair. Made of a black plastic coat and copper ends, the wire sticks out of his skull cap, twisting about in a mimicry of the curly locks some of the Creators had. He does not know why he has these "hairs," but as they are rooted into his burlap, so despite their mysterious origins, he isn't too keen on removing them. Actually, if one were to look close, they might notice that all these "anomalies" appear to be slightly newer than the rest of him, from his arms to his knees... it appears that everything beside his torso is a new addition. Unfortunately, 199 does not recall any sort of modification on his part. |
Accessories: He sometimes is seen carrying a few batteries, or a circlet of copper wire either swinging around his body or attached to his leather belt, but these are all understandable necessities as he is an engineer. The strangest accessory he has is a heart-shaped lock, which he carries around for an unknown reason on a burlap belt. He has, and always has had, a strange connection to locket, as it was the first thing he saw upon awakening in the abandoned house four years ago, but recently the locket was stolen by a female stitchpunk calling herself 200. |
Abilities: 199 was more or less born with an amazing knowledge of electrical and mechanical workings, and is very skilled in not only repairing pre-war electrical equipment, but also creating new technology that harness the power of electricity, such as battery powered spring traps and statically charged fire arms. He's set up a few such traps around the Shambles, a measure to try and deter Saviors and curious Loners from entering, though in the recent years they've become prone to corroding. Unfortunately, due to dwindling resources and his constant need for batteries, he has been unable to repair the corroded traps, and while it is one of his intended side projects, he has yet to create an actual weapon, only prototypes and test models. Still, it goes without saying that he provides a very useful skill set, and his place in the Shamble is easily marked out by a few light bulbs he keeps running near his small shack. He also seems to have a keen interest in alchemy, but is still very naive about it's practice and rules. |
Weapon(s): Sometimes, on his belt clip, he carries a piece of copper shrapnel, sharpened into a short knife with a bare handle. Lately, though, he has been experimenting with creating new weapons and tazer-like weapons-systems but has yet to produce anything substantial. The blade will do for now though, especially if he's on the hunt, looking for his next fix. |
Personality: As Rogues stereotypically tend to be, 199 is rude, unnerving, and as ruthless as they can come- well, at least that's how he looks anyway. Truthfully, it's all just a front to keep the other Rogues at bay, but that's not to say it's a hard front to keep up. While he looks like a ragsy with a bit of a fray to him now, only two years prior he was as fearfull as any other doll that just woke up on a post apocalyptic wasteland, and with a frown as long as the sky itself to boot. 199 used to be a Savior, meek and shy, working in the basement of the Cathedral where no one saw him and only appearing once in blue moon to work on one small thing or another- a lamp here, a bulb there. Unfortunately while he was there, he suffered from an unexplained bought of depression which went unremedied as he remained alone in the darkness of the Cathedral- that was, until he found jolting. One night while working on his supplies, he accidentally ending up shocking himself on a loose wire. The small jolt of electricty traveled through his hands, through his copper frame, and up into his skull where it procedded to have strange effects on his mind, causing hallucinations, and among other things, an odd sense of euphoria. To his amazement, he found that the euphoria lasted longer than the other side effects did, and at last, it seemed there was a solution for his depressed state. But he knew he couldn't stay if he were to keep it up, so after little deliberation, he packed up what he could and trekked to the fabled Shambles, where he quickly adopted the hard outter exterior that is required when you live among thieves, cons, and addicts. He's quick to insult, even quicker to draw a weapon, and overall just constantly acts as if something crawled into his burlap and died, but those who get moderately close to him know this not to be entirely true. Even among Rogues he has a morale code, such as never to cuss around Stitchlings, and to be courteous to all female Stitchkind, among other things. Secretly, he has a soft-spot for most sitchilings, and would prefer to be a gentlemen around the ladies (though that doesn't usually end up being the case). Aside from that, he just generally wants to be left well alone, and will keep a mind to mind his business. But, as fate would have it, drugs can change a Ragdoll, and it's no doubt that when he's been off or on the juice, he's a completely different ragdoll. If he's been charged and happy, he'll be a little friendlier than normal if not more tolerable, but make no mistake- if you give him a few weeks and he hasn't gotten a charge, he'll sooner slice you down the middle then say hello. He is well aware of his actions as well. It's either give up the drug and be miserable, or keep using at the risk of himself and everyone else around him- an unresolved dillema that continues to this day and, without a doubt, makes him guilty. |
Other Information: Living inside the Shambles, 199 runs his base of operations from the remains of a small crate within the massive complex of bones and rubble, though you could scarcely tell it was a crate at any given point in time with the amount of wires, lights, and overall plain junk in the area. He goes scavenging on an almost daily basis, and as such he tends to hoard many of the materials he finds (he can be called a "junk-junkie" of sorts). There are wires hanging from what could loosely be called a ceiling, a matchbox full of broken glass shards, and what could only amount to as a hoard of corroded and lifeless batteries sitting in a corner in the back- this only touching base on the amount of junk that 199 has stockpiled in his abode. Among the clutter is his work table, a small area consisting of matchboxes and a loosely put-together bench. Only a half-step away is his bed, a leather work glove with a pillow made of burlap and sawdust. Between the haphazard wires, cluttered glass, and leaking acids, really the makeshift bed is the only comfortable looking thing about the place, which may be part of the reason why it's so seldom ransacked. |
