70 stared at her, but his eyes flickered as his mind raced. Did he lie..? Or was the man in the vision killed before he could retrieve the girl..17..? He hoped it was the latter, because the first made his "blood" boil. Either way, though, it left 70 at a loss of what to say to her. She'd just seen the last moments of her human life..which was not an easy burden to bear on one's mind.
With a concerned smile, 70 put a hand on her back, and the other behind her head, pulling her face into his chest. He didn't say a word. They just wouldn't come.

17 stayed still as 70 held her close. Her face was full of absolutely nothing but confusion...that little girl was really her? That's what she'd looked like? That's how she died? Blunt force trauma to the head. Not a gas module, like the others. She turned her head to the side and just sat, letting 70 hold her.
It was one tough thing to face after another. She didn't want to know how she died. She didn't want to see those walkers. Didn't want to see any of it. She shut her optics tightly closed.

70 rubbed her back gently, keeping his fingers from tearing her fabric. "I'm sorry you have to see all of this now.." he murmured, completely incapable of fixing it for her. He wanted to stop it, to let her stay in the dark about her demise. He certainly didn't like knowing the fate of his previous family - his wife and little girl - even though his own was still hidden from him.
70 rocked back and forth, another remnant of his past. "It's okay. You're here now. That's what matters. The past doesn't..it doesn't matter." he wasn't convinced of that, but he had to make it sound like he was.

17 felt safe in 70's arms, listening to him speak to her.
"I'm sorry you have to see all of this now.."
"IIIIIII'mmmm sorrrrrrryyyy tooo..." She replied. She just hurt emotionally. "IIIIII...wannnna forrrrgettt thaaaat tooo..." She didn't cry. 17 had done her fair share of crying, and the child refused to let herself do so. It was time to stop being so weak.
"It's okay. You're here now. That's what matters. The past doesn't..it doesn't matter."
"...IIIIIIt doesssssnnn't...?" She asked, confused. "H..Hooow...?"

70 looked at her firmly. "Because no matter what you saw, or no matter what you will see, you are who you are without remembering. So it doesn't matter."
He looked to the side. "Will knowing anything from your past really change who you are, 17?" The doctor bit his lip. "You must let go."
He told her this, and he meant it..but he knew deep in his soul that he hadn't taken that advice himself. He was holding on, on to a name, onto a memory, onto feelings. Things that were gone.

17 kept her attention to 70 as he was sternly looking at her. She listened carefully to his words, making sure she remembered them, knowing that they were very important. Once he finished, she evaluated what he had told her.
"...Youuuuuu're riiiiight." She replied. "IIIIII wonnnn't leeeeeet iiiiit chaaaaaange meeee..."

"Good." 70 confirmed with more cheer than he was really feeling. Who was he to tell her to forget? To move on? No one, that's who. He was feeling more unfit to be her father with every passing minute. Sure, he remembered some things from his previous life about fatherhood, but it didn't mean he knew just what to saw or how to comfort her or anything. He just knew medicine - and that only took care of her body, not her soul.
"..I'm here for you, okay?" he said, trying to smile.

17 began to lean into him, starting to get tired, thinking about all the events in the past two days. Sure, today wasn't as eventful and dangerous, but it still took a lot out of her to even move at all...trying to give 70 a smile and even letting him guide her during the sewing wasn't much help, either. But she needed to learn to get past it.
"..I'm here for you, okay?"
She buried her face into his chest, moving her weak arms to hug him again.
"O-Okkkkaaaay...."

The sun was waning now. 70 has made 17 go back to sleep. Perhaps her memories and fears would not haunt her there, and she would just be able to get some rest. 70 rubbed an optic and looked down at his workbench. He's been staring at it, trying to get it to work.
A new leg for 17. One with a spring to match her old one, so she could jump correctly again. He hoped it would work. Though he was good at making modifications, it wasn't easy to get right on the first try, which he was determined to do.
He would surprise her with it.

17's nightmares normally went away when she was sleeping. She did her usual small stirring when she slept, trying to find a way to be comfortable when she lay down, and then would be silent again. Pulling her hood over her head to block out any light, she needed the rest more than ever. She was supposed to stay still and not move so she could heal better, but due to her stubbornness she kept moving anyway. Although, more memories came to her as she slept. They were all just small glimpses, glitchy clips. At one point, 17 opened her optics and took her hood off of her face to see if she was able to tell what the time was, but she was too tired to really pay attention. She fell limp again, sound asleep, leaving the hood off her face.
