Okay, Source. This is Sinner. Forgive the reference to the infuriating run of Spider-Man comics in the title.
Most of you know that stuff has been going down. First of all, let me say that your Staff has been working diligently to organize and plan to make this next chapter of The Source. We've got a lot of changes to make and things to do, and they will require member effort in making it happen. We can only do so much, but you as our member have responsibility too. So, I'm going to lay out a few things in regards to our plans.
• Lockdown. For about a week, maybe two, we are going to disable new member registration. This is simply so we can organize without member coming in in the middle of things and getting confused. If you've registered and haven't made an application yet, you're going to want to wait. Member who HAVE profiles, you'll likely have revisions to make. But don't panic.
• Merge. We are going to attempt to consolidate the IC chat box with the threads. What has happened is that a lot of older members (I'm guilty of it myself) have become almost exclusively cbox roleplayers. That's all well and good, but we MUST have thread activity. Older members who are still in the threads are having to wait and wait and wait for replies and that's just not good. Trust me, I understand how it can be, but we've got to fix it. SO. We're going to merge. That means that ALL EVENTS FROM THE CHAT BOX HAVE NOW HAPPENED IN THE THREADS. You'll need to change your character profiles accordingly. IF something happened in the cbox that you don't want to have happened, you have the chance to leave it out. But for the most part, development happened. This is so you can keep in the same mindset when playing a character instead of having to switch to an old one. But this means that you will also need to be responsible for keeping yourselves on track because things do happen so quickly in the cbox.
Note: If you just enamored with the way a character is in the threads, we are not going to make you change it. You have flexibility here, but understand that the time has changed and characters around yours will. If you've got a problem with getting things to work between your characters and others, you may have to compromise. We may consider having an area where you can play in the past, as this change also means a lot of events aren't explained in threads.
• Character Limit Change. In order to also satisfy the needs of the cbox, in which there are many more characters, the character limit is changing away from the point system. When you register, you can have two characters immediately. After a wait period of TWO MONTHS, you have the freedom to add any number of new characters. DURING THIS PERIOD YOU MUST BE ACTIVE. While this is good, it also carries a lot of responsibility. Don't take on too many. You are not required to meet a quota with each character, but we will tell you to slow down if you start falling behind. If you commit to a thread with others with a character, you need to honor that commitment. Pace yourselves. Active members who've been around for longer than two months can go ahead.
• New Direction and Alliance. Some of you have noticed the Racketeers. This is a push to progress the story establish in the 9 Universe. Here we are giving the opportunity to start forming actual society. I've noticed the limitations of the scenarios that are faced in a survival-only mindset when characters are beyond mere survival. The Racketeers are going to be headed up by a new character of mine. Frankly, this is a crime syndicate. They are going to try to organize the stitchpunks. That means currency, markets, and society. More details on that later, but we hope that will bring something new and progressive to the game.
• Distance Decrease. We feel very spread out. This is less of a change and more of a note. The closer you are to other characters in physical location, the more chances you have for interaction. Remember that as a mindset. On the lines of that, after things settle some, there will likely be a cap put on Loners/Rogues, because they greatly outnumber the other groups. Also, we'll give you the opportunity to change your character's alliances considering we have a new group that needs populating and character development to catch up on. Just MAKE SURE you let the staff know somehow that you're doing it so we can move the profiles.
•Kick Out 1. If someone doesn't take up and play 1, we're going to get rid of him. The Cathedral needs a leader. We'll keep you posted.
• QUALITY. WE STILL EXPECT EFFORT IN YOUR RP POSTS. WE WILL CALL YOU OUT. Repeat offenses will likely result in us deleting your post and leaving a note of varied friendliness telling you to rewrite it. Don't take it personally, but we have to have quality.
•Restrictions. There have been things happening in the cbox IC for awhile that are of a controversial and questionable nature. A lot it we really can't allow on the forums lest we risk Proboards threatening us to take stuff down. We'll let you know the specifics of these restrictions at a later date. You can probably guess the kind of stuff we're talking about. Remember that everything you do should be written in good taste.
•Respect. Eshe and I ARE your new admins. We expect you to treat us and the rest of the staff with that respect that that deserves. This also means that you will respect and you will also honor judgments that Cool Guy made while she was here. NOTHING is reversed because she is gone. You are expected to respect what she did, and what the staff does. You can disagree respectfully, but understand that we can and will be battleaxes. Don't think you're beyond being asked to leave. (ie. banned). We believe in second chances, but that doesn't mean we don't have a breaking point. Please cooperate with us.
